Terms

The plain version of how working with us works. Last updated June 2026.

What we do

ChapterOne interviews your parent, writes their life story into a book, and delivers it as a printed hardback and a digital copy. You arrange the project and we carry it out.

Booking and payment

A $150 deposit reserves your spot. The balance of the $1,500 price is due only after you have read and approved the finished manuscript. Nothing more is owed until then.

Our guarantee

You read the finished book before you pay the balance. We revise it until you are happy. If you still do not want it, you do not pay the balance and your deposit is refunded. The risk sits with us.

The book is yours

You own the finished book and the digital files, and your family keeps the rights to your own story. We do not publish, share, or reuse any part of it without your written permission. You can reprint or order more copies whenever you like.

Revisions and timing

Revisions are included until the book is right. Most projects are finished within six to eight weeks of the first interview, and we work to your date where we can.

Cancelling

You can cancel before the interviews begin and your deposit is refunded in full. Once the interviews and writing have started, the deposit covers the time already spent.

Accuracy

We write the story as it is told to us. You are welcome to correct anything during the revisions, and you are responsible for what you and your family choose to include.
