About ChapterOne

One writer, one story at a time.

Myles Howorth, founder of ChapterOne

I founded ChapterOne because the most important stories are not in bookshops. They are in living rooms and at kitchen tables, and they get lost when the person who lived them is gone.

I am Myles Howorth. I studied law and economics at the University of Cambridge, where almost everything I did came back to writing. I bring that same care to every book I make.

ChapterOne is not academic writing though. It is mostly listening. I sit with your parent across a few calls and ask the questions that get them going, including the ones nobody else thinks to ask, then I turn what they say into a book that still sounds like them.

I run every interview and shape every book myself, and I pay close attention to how your parent actually talks.

The Standard

The Cambridge Standard

Cambridge taught me to take words seriously, and to care as much about how a thing is written as what it actually says.

Every ChapterOne book is held to that standard. It has to read well, and it has to sound like the person whose life it tells.

Our Promise

The ChapterOne Promise

Personal

Every book is personally led by Myles, from the first call to the final printed page.

Private

The story belongs to your family. We never share or publish your book without explicit written consent.

Risk-free

You read the finished book before you pay the balance. If it does not move you, you do not pay it.

Capture their story while you still can

Reserve a founding spot, or book a free call if you would like to talk it through first.
